A chiropractic adjustment is a therapeutic treatment where a licensed chiropractor uses their hands or special instruments to manipulate joints in your body. This treatment is also called spinal manipulation or joint manipulation. These manipulations are typically painless and can have gentle or deep pressure depending on the pain the patient presents with, area, and age. A chiropractic adjustment can help reduce pain, correct your body’s alignment and how your body functions physically. It accomplishes this because when segments of your spine shift in small amounts or large from trauma or day to day life, the nervous system becomes affected. Since your nervous system branches out to innervate the rest of your body and functional processes it is very important to keep your body aligned. Chiropractic adjustments offer treatment that complements other medical care you may receive such as acupuncture, massage, primary care, and physical therapy.

The needles may be manipulated manually or stimulated with small electrical currents called electroacupuncture. Acupuncture can help improve sports performance and aid in injury recovery, balance the hormones, improve digestion, sleep, and anxiety/depression. The acupuncture needles are placed in very specific points along meridians which run down the body in lines just as they do on the earth's axis. The needles can induce a somatovisceral response through the stimulation of the nervous system on specific points and thus regulating the flow of energy within the body. Acupuncture has been in use in some form for at least 2,500 years.
